Other Postcard Tycoon reviews online hype this opportunity up as a marvelous entry into affiliate marketing and entrepreneurship for beginners. But just like with all postcard programs you find being marketed on Youtube, it resembles more of a pyramid scheme rather than a legitimate business opportunity. If you’re thinking of joining Postcard Tycoon or any of the other 101 postcard programs that you might have seen online, please read this article to the end.
This is one of the worst investments that you could make if you’re looking to start a Home-based business. It isn’t easy to find value in these types of programs when all they do is try to sell you on the promise of making money with little to no effort which is why I think these postcard programs are so popular right now with people.
I paid the $500 fee to be able to review the program and give my honest thoughts about it. I could review a dozen more postcard opportunities on this Blog if I wanted to but why bother? They’re all pretty much the same, not to mention a complete waste of money. What is Postcard Tycoon?
Postcard Tycoon is a direct mail business opportunity from WTM Publication that claims you can make $300 per day from home by simply mailing postcards. There are no monthly auto-ship fees required. A one-time payment of $ 497. $197 goes to WTM Publication, and the remaining $300 goes to your sponsor.
Who Owns Postcard Tycoon?
The owner’s name is Eric Pantalone and he’s the owner of many postcard programs in addition to Postcard Tycoon which is all under the WTM Publication umbrella.
I did some digging online to see what else the owner Eric Pantalone had his hand in, and It appears that he also has another money-making opportunity for you to join on how to make $200 a day by posting 3 ads on Craigslist. For $20 you’ll get access to 3 pre-written ads that you copy and paste on Craigslist where you can then “watch the money pour into your PayPal account”.
How Does Postcard Tycoon Work?
Once you receive your starter kit in the mail, you’re going to take your peel-and-stick labels (buyer leads) place them on the back of the postcards and drop them in the mail. The first 250 postcards and buyer
leads shipped to you are FREE and included in the starter kit, but after that, you’ll have to keep buying more postcards and leads if you want to keep mailing.

The 250 peel-and-stick labels of “Hot Opportunity Buyers” are names of people apparently looking for
opportunities to make money from home. Where WTM Publication gets its list of buyer leads I do not know, but I suspect that it’s from re-hashed or outdated lists of people who have bought into other postcard programs and MLM business opportunities at one time or another. You’re also going to have a lot of options for different list Brokers to purchase leads from included in your starter kit.
When someone receives your postcard in the mail they’re encouraged to visit your website to get more information about Postcard Tycoon. This cookie-cutter website is the same one that every new rep gets when they first join. The only distinguishing feature is that it will have your contact details at the very bottom of the page. It also has some of the most comically, overly hyped, and exaggerated sales copy I’ve ever seen. It reads like a very long sales letter rather than a website.
The CD-ROM contains hundreds of pdf files on things like “how to build your network marketing business” and “tips for postcard marketing.” This would be fine except that much of the material is outdated and not very good. We’re talking 25-30 years old. And why would you send new reps a burnt CD-ROM when modern laptops don’t even come with a CD/DVD drive anymore? I had to break out my laptop from 2013 just to view it.

$300 commissions sound good but what is it that you’re actually selling? Well, you’re essentially just re-selling the starter kit which is Postcard Tycoon itself. Technically speaking, you could make an argument against Postcard Tycoon being a pyramid scheme because they do send you something tangible for your $500 investment. However, that doesn’t make it a quality product and certainly not worth $500.
If you weren’t able to sell people on the “opportunity” and recruit them, nobody in their right mind would pay money for the information contained in the starter kit because it’s worthless. When the “opportunity to make money” is a helluva lot more valuable than the product itself, you can classify that as a pyramid scheme
2. “The System”
You might have seen influencer marketers on social media opening envelopes with money orders inside saying things like “Don’t wanna be on video? You don’t have to be, just follow the system folks by simply mailing postcards and you can make money too” or “with Postcard Tycoon you never have to do any selling, telling, or online marketing guys“.
Seeing the envelopes of money orders, and hearing these talking points being reiterated over and over again helps create the excitement and sense of urgency to want to jump in and start mailing. This whole system and style of marketing are appealing, especially if you have more of an introverted personality (like myself) or are a senior citizen retiree with limited technical knowledge of the Internet. I mean, all you have to do to make money is just mail postcards…right?
I don’t think it’s quite that simple
Because I feel people are 99.9% more likely to join one of these programs as a result of watching someone’s video online about Postcard Tycoon than they are if they received a postcard in the mail from someone they don’t know. Why? Because Video is a great way to create the like, know, and trust factor with people no matter what you’re trying to sell. You can’t do that with a postcard. Having a Youtube channel with views is going to be 10x more effective than someone mailing postcards every week.
In fact, I’m willing to bet that the only successful reps of Postcard Tycoon are the ones getting sign-ups through social media. Strictly recruiting people online eliminates the need of ever having to mail postcards. Yet you see seasoned marketers trying to sell potential new recruits on the notion that mailing postcards are what’s going to propel you to success.
The idea of mailing postcards to strangers through the mail and having them join your business outright might have worked 30-40 years ago, but times have changed, and people are more skeptical and weary of being scammed more than ever. Anyone in the world with a smartphone can research anything through the Web.
The odds are great for someone who receives your postcard in the mail to go to Google or YouTube first for more information about Postcard Tycoon before joining. This can put you at a severe disadvantage because now your interested prospect is highly more likely to join under other well-known and established marketers who already have a presence on social media resulting in what’s called “sponsor shopping” and you losing a commission.
3. Expense
Relying strictly upon postcard marketing for sales can get very expensive quickly, especially if your mass mailing hundreds of postcards every week. Even if you set a budget and only mailed out a conservative number of postcards each day, how long would it take to get your first sale?
WTM publishing claims a 1-3% response rate on average for postcard marketing campaigns, but where do they get this statistic? And are they referring to the response rate of traditional consumer goods and services sold through the mail or the number of people joining MLM biz opportunities?
Your success could ultimately boil down to the quality of the leads you’re buying. You could mail thousands of postcards a week, or 10 postcards a day for the next two years, and it will all be in vain if the leads you’re buying are trash. The best leads are not the ones you pay money for. They’re organic leads you drive from search engine traffic like Google. Unfortunately, Postcard Tycoon doesn’t teach you how to generate your own leads so you’re stuck having to buy crappy leads from third-rate Broker lists
Final Thoughts
An opportunity has to have legit products or services behind it in order to make sense to me, and there really are no good reasons to join Postcard Tycoon other than the $300 commissions. What might seem like a great business for shy introverts and senior citizens, is going to require a certain degree of salesmanship and skill because of the recruiting involved. Someone who is not willing to step out of their comfort zone, be on video, and brand themselves on social media is going to have a tough time generating sales in my opinion.
Postcard Tycoon offers you nothing from an educational standpoint. You’re not going to learn anything about Affiliate marketing, sales funnels, or how to generate your own organic leads of potential buyers. Also, If you take into consideration the $497 initial start-up fee, along with the continuous re-investment in leads, postcards, and stamps, you can quickly find yourself thousands of dollars out of pocket without anything to show for it.
If you’re determined to learn Affiliate marketing or how to make money online in general, you’re much better off investing that money in an educational platform that will teach you skill sets that you can actually use.
