What is American Bill Money?

American Bill Money is a postcard marketing opportunity that operates on a multi-level marketing (MLM) structure where you have the opportunity to earn residual monthly commissions through a direct mail strategy. It’s frequently touted as “America’s #1 residual income system”

Because this program is exclusive to the United States, international residents are not eligible to sign-up and become an affiliate.

Brief history of American Bill Money

Launched in 2003 by Paul Korzeniowski, ABM is one of the longest running postcard and flyer marketing opportunities with 21 years in business, and is headquartered in Portsmouth, VA

Although they have an A+ rating, American Bill Money is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau.

It’s puzzling to me how a business that’s not accredited has such a high rating and no reviews. Click Here to view their BBB page

How Does American Bill Money Work?

Direct mail marketing is the heart of the American Bill Money system and serves as the primary tool you’re going to use to advertise your business and drive sales.

In this system, you promote American Bill Money by mailing out physical marketing materials such as flyers/postcards via direct mail.

Here’s an example of an actual American Bill Money flyer:

You earn income by enrolling new customers or affiliates who then engage in the same direct mail approach as you.

The more people you successfully recruit, and the more sales they generate, the higher your potential of residual income

This MLM model is designed to generate a stream of passive income based on the sales and recruitment achievements of your downline.

What’s Included In The $50 Subscription Package?

As part of your subscription, you’ll receive 50 new fresh leads mailed to you from the company on auto-pilot each and every month.

These are names and addresses of people who are looking to start a home-based business. They’ll come on peel-and-stick mailing labels for you to simply stick to your postcards or flyer envelopes.

It’s important to note that since you’ll have 50 peel-and-stick buyer leads auto-shipped to you every month, direct mail marketing is woven into the American Bill Money system. In order to utilize these leads efficiently, you’ll have to run direct mail marketing campaigns or you risk wasting them.

But, you’re also free to do whatever you want with these leads. You can use them, or not use them – it’s your choice.

Just to be clear…

The $50 starter membership package does not include or cover the cost of stamps, or the printing of flyers/postcards.

This will be a separate out-of-pocket expense you’ll continually have for as long as you advertise your American Bill Money business through direct mail.

What Is The Product?

There are postcard opportunities out there where there’s no real product attached to it.

Technically, there is one attached to American Bill Money: The 50 peel-and-stick label buyer leads

You could say that American Bill Money is essentially a lead label company.

There are two ways to earn with American Bill Money:

  1. Fast-Start Bonuses
  2. Residual Commissions
  • Fast-Start Bonuses

Each new referral you make to American Bill Money automatically earns you a $30 commission that is payable to you weekly.

For example, if you refer Bob on Monday, John and Susan on Tuesday, you will have earned a total of $90 in fast-start cash for that week.

  • Residual Commissions

In addition to the fast-start cash, you will earn a $10 monthly residual commission on every one of your personal referrals every month provided they pay the $50 monthly fee to remain a member.

This can go 3 levels deep.

This means that if 5 of your referrals were to bring in 5 people each three levels down it would earn you a monthly residual income of $1,550

American Bill Money Benefits & Potential Drawbacks

Benefits

Uncomplicated Marketing

What makes postcard marketing so attractive is that you don’t need to have any digital marketing skills or be some kind of online tech guru in order to be successful.

Since anyone can mail a postcard, it makes marketing your business extremely easy compared to online marketing where there can be a steep learning curve attached.

Residual Income

The most attractive attribute of the American Bill Money system is its design to potentially create an income stream that doesn’t require daily active work.

24/ 7 Automated Follow-Up System

For those who prefer less direct interaction with people, American Bill Money incorporates an automated follow-up system that’s available to all their reps . This system engages potential prospects through emails, text messages and voicemails after they have shown interest from submitting their info via a landing page or through American Bill Money’s dedicated informational line.

Drawbacks

Marketing Costs

The biggest pitfall you’re going to encounter is the amount of money you’re going to be spending on stamps, postcards, and flyers.

At the time of this writing, to mail a single standard 4×6 postcard in the U.S. is 53 cents.

To put this into perspective, let’s say you want to mail 1000 postcards a month.

1000 x .53 = $530

Keep in mind this does NOT include the printing of the actual postcards

The postage rate for mailing flyers will be even more expensive since they require envelopes along with first-class postage stamps.

As a side note, a cheaper alternative could be to print out black & white flyers and pass them out at your local gas stations, malls, etc. Another option is drop cards.

Small Compensation Plan

Expenses for marketing materials such as postcards, stamps, and envelopes can accumulate rapidly. With American Bill Money’s current compensation plan of $10 a month per referral, you would need a substantial amount of active and successful referrals in your downline in order to just break even.

Paying For Extra Leads

American Bill Money auto-ships you 50 income opportunity seeker leads each month as part of your subscription package.

The problem is if you want to gain any real momentum in your business, you need to mail out to a lot more than 50 people a month to see any real results.

Drawing from my personal experience with these postcard programs, mailing out to anything less than 500 people per month is almost a waste of time in my opinion.

I’m not sure where American Bill Money obtains their leads from, but most of these companies use recycled names and addresses of people who have joined other postcard marketing opportunities in the past.

But, if your budget won’t allow you to buy any additional leads, and you’re content with only mailing out 50 postcards per month, then on the bright side, your marketing expenses will be minimal.

Sustaining Success

One of the main problems with any multi-level marketing opportunity is that your potential to earn residual income will heavily depend on your recruit’s continued participation in the program, including their own sales and recruitment activities.

Continuously finding new recruits each month to maintain or increase your income level can prove very challenging, especially for new reps just getting started.

Therefore, it’s crucial that you have the ability to be able to motivate and support your team so they remain active and engaged with the program.

Postcard Marketing Missteps: Lesson Learned From My Experience

American Bill Money Review - Frustrated Marketer

I think one of the biggest mistakes you can make in these types of programs is not having a well planned marketing budget in place before you start.

During my first foray in postcard marketing, one of the primary challenges I encountered very quickly was the high costs associated with direct mail marketing campaigns.

I hadn’t set a budget in advance, which turned out to be a critical oversight on my part.

I was mailing out an average of 1,200 postcards and spending around $600 in marketing materials every month. I wanted to grow my business extremely fast, but as a result of not having a clear financial plan, the expenses for printing, postage, and purchasing leads quickly accumulated, putting a real strain on my resources which pretty much forced me to quit.

Could I have drastically reduced my expenses by mailing less postcards? Yes, but after 6 months of seeing no results and having zero return on my investment up to that point, I got frustrated and quit.

In hindsight, it was an expensive lesson to learn, but I’m glad that I decided to shift my focus from MLM to learning affiliate marketing Instead.

Comparing American Bill Money To Other Similar Programs

Here’s what makes American Bill Money unique from other postcard opportunities:

Stability – The biggest key difference between American Bill Money and other postcard programs is its longevity. With 21 years in business you don’t have to worry about waking up one morning only to find that the company unexpectedly shut down and your entire business disappearing.

24/7 Follow-Up System – This is the only postcard opportunity that I’m aware of that has an automated system available for their members that attempts to follow-up and close potential prospects without having to lift a finger allowing you to remain completely anonymous.

Low StartUp – In terms of investment, American Bill Money’s initial joining fee, set at $50, is comparatively lower than a lot of other direct mail marketing opportunities, such as Postcard Tycoon, which has a much higher start up cost. If you’re looking for affordability, American Bill Money is one of your better options.

Final Thoughts

Do I consider American Bill Money a scam? I wouldn’t go so far to say it’s a scam, but as someone who has already done postcard marketing, I definitely wouldn’t recommend it. Direct mail advertising will require you to spend a fortune in an effort to gain exposure to your business opportunity. This is true for American Bill Money and all postcard marketing programs.

But, if this type of business model resonates with you, and you have the starting capital to really make a run at it, then go for it.

But, do so only after weighing the benefits against the inherent challenges. Really knowing what you’re getting into before you start will help you understand the commitment required, both in terms of time and financial resources.

Although postcard marketing is simpler and not as complex as digital marketing, American Bill Money is still multi-level marketing at its core. This means that a large part of your success is going to hinge on your ability to be able to actively recruit and build a downline.

The $50 monthly membership makes it comparatively an affordable option, but remember that there’s a recurring $50 monthly fee attached, and the American Bill Money compensation plan hardly justifies the high costs associated with direct mail marketing.
